Background

 

Simon Hammond was the Global Marketing Manager of Hearing Life (now incorporated into Audika) for 6 years between 2006 and 2010.
Recruitment Strategy and supporting H.R. was therefore a huge focus of the marketing team.  The company was quickly expanding and needed to attract both talented and experience audiological staff, and graduate trainees, is what was a hugely competitive recruitment market. 

Establishing the HR Tool Kit

 

Simon recalls:-

“Within the company, we’d were trying to move away from the ‘sell, sell, sell’ directives from management towards a developing a client experience that was not pushy, but rather empowered our clients to make the best decisions for their hearing.
That philosophy had been greatly appreciated and bought into by the audiological team. Huge investment and commitment been made into the onboarding and continued training of staff and company success and profitability had followed.
Hearing Life had become different to other hearing care networks. Staff who had come to us from other organizations loved what they we were doing, which convinced us that we had a compelling message for graduate trainees who were in their final years of their studies.”

Creating a point of difference

 

Rather than simply opening up the cheque book and offering higher salaries, we could promise a better working life.  But how could we communicate this?
Simon’s marketing team worked with H.R. to develop several tools to help convey the message to prospective staff, which included:-
